Currently in the art studio…
Done with this painting? I’m not sure. But I think so.
I love how it looks at the moment and I’m hesitant to add to it, just in case I ruin it. Yes, this is the reality of what goes on in an artist’s mind… not super fancy at all, is it?
Given that I like what I see at the moment, it feels like it’s a good point to stop. I’ll take another look at it tomorrow, once everything is dry, and I have a fresh perspective on it.
I really didn’t think I’d ever paint in earthy colours. But at the moment, I’m struggling to stop using this colour palette. There is something about the colours that draw you in. Well, they seem to be drawing me into the studio, to keep painting in these colours, whenever I walk past.
However, finalising this art piece aside, I do recognise that being torn whether to continue or stop, is an indicator of wanting to continue to paint and express myself. And not necessarily on this canvas.

This is something I’ve come to realise about myself as a painter. It’s like having a lot to say and express but not enough time or space to do it. So you are fighting this urge to say it all in the one go, in this case, to paint it all out on the canvas. But you really have to recognise this and stop. It doesn’t serve you and it doesn’t serve the art piece that’s meant to be released into the world as it is.
Now having said all that, I have to figure out what size canvas I need to purchase next. Because there is A LOT of painting to be done.
Until next time.
